Biological Activity
Potent VGlut and vesicular monoamine transporter (VMAT) inhibitor (Ki values are 19 and 64 nM, respectively). Inhibits ATP dependent vesicular glutamate uptake (IC50 = 37 nM) and diminishes the amount of exocytotically released glutamate in synaptosomes. Decreases synaptic transmission in the dentate gyrus. Also stains exposed epithelium in the eye. Cell permeable.
